Hitchin Thespians Present

Anything Goes

15th -19th October 2019
at 7.45pm

Woodside Hall

Director/Choreographer - Sarah Bailes
Musical Director - John Edwards

What do you get if you mix a former evangelist-turned-nightclub hostess, America's Public Enemy Number 13, an impoverished English aristocrat, a beautiful American heiress and a hero who has an answer (and a disguise) for every occasion? Not to mention a Wall Street tycoon, a bevy of beautiful backing singers and a bishop?

You get the Hitchin Thespians' latest presentation, the smash hit musical Anything Goes. With a wise-cracking script, lavish tap routines and some of Cole Porter's best-loved songs (I Get a Kick Out of You, You're the Top, It's De-Lovely and of course the title number), Anything Goes is a classic American feel-good show, ideal for all the family.

Get your tickets soon for Anything Goes at Woodside Hall, Hitchin from the 15th - 19th of October, 2019.

Hitchin Thespians Present

Christmas at Woodside 2019

12th to 14th December 2019
at 7:45pm

Woodside Hall, Hitchin SG4 9SP

Musical Director : Rob Brand

BUT - this year it is a little different...

All the elements you know and love from previous years will be there - fragrant mince pies and punch, a convivial Christmas atmosphere and glorious Christmas music old and new performed by the highly-regarded Hitchin Thespians Choir. In addition the Thespians will be making use of their musical theatre expertise to present an immersive entertainment.
As the audience sits at tables, around them the following events will unfold...we see a cozy Victorian home, with a fireplace, rocking chairs, and a happy family celebrating the Christmas season as they sing “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.” ...we see a horse-drawn sleigh standing in the snow, while nearby a snowman is made and they all join in with "Winter Wonderland"... you might see a dimly-lit tavern from which inebriated revelers will burst, clutching foaming tankards and singing lustily... you will see carol singers wending their way through the audience whilst singing the haunting and lovely “Do You Hear What I Hear?” And of course there will be the opportunity for the audience to join in with some old favourites as well.
