Putting on a production involves a lot more than just the performers. There are a number of jobs behind the scenes, and they are just as crucial to the success of the production as the people who are on the stage.  

Director

As a Director, you’ll have the chance to get involved in every aspect of the show, from stage design to choreography. We also offer you the chance to shadow an experienced Director while you learn the ropes. 

Musical Director

Our musical directors are a key part of the team! If you’ve got a musical background and would like to try out being an MD, please get in touch. 

Choreographer

Can you create catchy footwork that our performers will enjoy dancing and our audiences love watching? You can choose to choreograph a whole production, or just one number.  

Production/Choral manager

These are the committee roles that liaise between the Production Team and the committee. A vital part of the well-being and success of any production.  

Wardrobe Manager

From costume ideas to straightening a hem, the wardrobe manager can really make a production come alive. 

Lighting, Sound & Tech

Join our tech team and be creative with light and sound.   No production is complete without them.  

Stage Manager

Keep things running smoothly during the rehearsal period and in show week

Backstage Crew

The stage manager’s team, shifting scenery and keeping every performance on an even keel.   

Set Design / Creation

Let your artistic talents go wild, planning and creating the sets for our productions. 

Props

A vital role: sourcing, creating and keeping tabs on all the props and making sure they’re in position for every performance.  

Hair & Make Up

Help our performers get the right look for Show Week.

Musicians

We’re putting together a database of musicians to contact for performances. Whatever you play, please get in touch.  

Box Office / Front of House

Our FoH and Box Office team are the first people that our audiences meet at Woodside. If you enjoy meeting people this might be something you’d love. 

Buildings / Lettings Management

Our beloved venue, Woodside Hall, needs a dedicated manager, overseeing bookings and keeping the hall ship-shape. 

Trustees

Hitchin Thespians is a registered charity and there are roles available on the Committee. If you’d like to be involved in running the Society, please get in touch.
